This painting is from a series of Christmas lights. I had rainbow lights out on my porch last winter and we had a light snow. The lights under and on top of the snow were so compelling that I spent over an hour freezing my fingers as I took pictures from different angles and points of view. I worked from those images for months! Years ago during a difficult time in my life I found a beacon of hope in a string of red string lights on a fire escape on a neighboring building. My connection with string lights goes way back.
