The mountains surrounding my home in Crestone, Colorado provide the inspiration for my contemporary oil landscapes. My motivation for making art is to share an experience of an expanded state of mind that often arises in the midst of high mountain landscapes. I'm inspired by a decades long meditation and yoga practice started while I was a graduate student at Naropa University. My intention is to create the space for the viewer to pause and take a moment to rest the mind and experience a sense of peace.

Each piece begins with a sense of place, with the geography acting as a mirror for a sense of internal location evoked by the landscape. Her hope is that through the work, she can convey a sense of this settled, spacious experience of mind that arises from deep meditation.

Kim Roberts, MA, trained as a psychotherapist and authorized Ashtanga Yoga teacher, spent the better part of 15 years living in the Himalayan foothills, leading wellness retreats throughout Southeast Asia. Kim is the author of two books, Ashtanga Yoga for Beginner's Mind, and Toward a Secret Sky: Creating Your Own Modern Pilgrimage.

I currently divide my time between Crestone and Denver.
